The Cox Technique

Flexion-Decompression — a gentle, research-backed approach to spinal care.

Also known as the Flexion-Decompression Technique, developed by James M. Cox, DC, DACRB. This technique is designed to restore joints to their normal range of motion and aid in proper healing.

Lumbar Spine Adjustment

The patient lies face down while the doctor applies gentle traction — no force. The table moves through flexion, extension, lateral flexion, and circumduction to precisely target the painful area.

Cervical Spine Adjustment

Thoracic and cervical traction is applied with the headpiece allowing extension, flexion, rotation, lateral flexion, and circumduction for precise upper back and neck treatment.

The Agency for Health Care Policy and Research recommended spinal manipulation as the only safe and effective, drugless form of initial professional treatment for acute low back problems in adults.
